Early childhood educational services and mothers victims of trafficking: reflections for the educational and pedagogical field

Abstract:

This contribution aims to reflect on the role of early childhood educational services (0-6 years) in the social inclusion pathways of mothers who are victims of trafficking in human beings and are hosted within projects for the reception and integration of migrants in Italy. These women, often alone and with complex life trajectories, experience motherhood in a foreign land and need to be welcomed and involved in the educational services to which they entrust their children. For this reason, the contribution will also explore the role of initial and in-service training for educators, who must be aware of the diversity of contemporary family situations. This knowledge is essential to support children's development while also encouraging parental involvement—particularly that of migrant mothers—in the activities offered by educational services. In doing so, it also contributes to the integration of these mothers into the social, professional, and recreational activities of the communities where they reside.
