Abstract:
Learning Cities are a model that aims to respond to the difficulties faced by diverse and global communities. This article explores the role of Learning Cities as key tools for preventing and raising awareness of gender-based violence and inequalities. Urban and social spaces, such as Centri Antiviolenza (CAV), Punti Viola, and social platforms are essential components to protecting rights and developing empowerment strategies. These have been key to ensure that the learning is not only continuous but also transformative. The purpose of these community-based spaces is to transmit dynamic and pervasive learning, stimulating a shared - and shareable- culture. Therefore, Learning Cities are representative of a system of opportuniste with inclusive and transformative learning, of which aim is to not only recognise and address inequalities, but also create safe, aware, and accessible cities.
