Abstract:
One of the key aspects in the design of ‘Learning Cities’ is “the construction of a sense of citizenship”, which is to be understood as “an evolutionary process intimately linked to the development of a sense of community” that takes root in people through their ability to “be together”, to live “experiences of belonging”. Universality, therefore, understood as a “global norm” and “common destiny”, is a founding element of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It, therefore, becomes interesting to understand how ‘Learning Cities’ converge and concretize this perspective by contrasting social exclusion, which inevitably leaves entire segments of the population behind, promoting a development that is based on inclusion and on a shared and collective civil responsibility, placing at the center an “urban model of intercultural integration” that can give life to living, thinking communities that involve all human categories, especially those arbitrarily excluded from political and social debate.
