Abstract
This article interrogates an ongoing initiative, launched in 2017, within the framework of “Artoo – Art as Told by Children”, a project explicitly oriented to fostering the authorial agency of preschool-aged children. The programme interweaves the dramaturgical play dimension inherent in social theatre, the symbolic repertoire of the visual arts, and the implementation of age-appropriate gentle digital technologies conceived expressly for early childhood contexts. The analysis foregrounds the pedagogical affordances of the initiative, with particular emphasis on the strategies and tools through which early childhood teachers and educators - systematically trained and scaffolded throughout the process - are enabled to cultivate metaphorical thinking and to construct theatre-based play environments conducive to adult–child co-narrative creation, combining analog and digital dimensions, body and Apps.
