Sharing, imagining and creating together: a new perspective on teacher training to fight discrimination, and promote inclusion

Abstract:

In our complex society and in the context of globalization, the growing phenomena of discrimination and violence are linked to the increase in social and economic inequalities and to the phenomena of marginalization that are inscribed in a capitalist and liberal ideology, based on individualism, competition and the commodification of every aspect of life. Educational institutions can carry out a fundamental action to combat these phenomena by promoting inclusive contexts in which there is room for a community perspective and the promotion of active citizenship. For this to happen, however, it is necessary to rethink the training of teachers of all levels, configuring it in terms of active learning from experience, in which spaces for reflection and self-reflection are provided at an individual and group level. In particular, courses focused on artistic-expressive languages and methodologies that include the psycho-bodily dimension are particularly effective. In the article we will deal with this theme by inserting in a theoretical framework also some exemplary experiences.
