Supporting young people in the learning city: educability, regenerative capacity and new practices of community work

Abstract:

For some time now, the prospects of the “learning city” paradigm have been discussed both in academia and within the policy-making communities. Speeches, publications, conferences and international congresses follow one another at short intervals, disseminating research results, interpretations and opinions of sociologists, pedagogues, technologists and economists. At the same time, a certain awareness is being generated that the learning city is rapidly taking shape, declining with different priorities and forms, by means of projects and agentive practices functional to promote new contexts of social justice and human development. The paper intends to investigate the possibility of rethinking the community as an organisational system of further, new and other educability in order to promote new working practices with particular reference to young people on the basis of a project action promoted by the Department for Family Policies
