The assessment of worklife skills through a Serious Game: the Among the Office Criticality experience

Serious Games (SG) represent an innovative and increasingly popular learning mode in a variety of fields, including education, vocational training and personnel selection. The use of such tools is based on the ability to engage users in playful activities, aimed at assessing and developing specific skills and abilities, through direct experience. In this context, the present study focuses on the design of a SG called "Among the Office Criticality," aimed at mapping and developing the soft skills most in demand in different contexts, including communication, problem solving, decision making, team working and time management. The game provides pedagogical and educational feedback to the person, as it allows the player to visualize his or her strengths and weaknesses in relation to the mapped soft skills by helping him or her understand where to focus to increase and develop greater awareness of his or her soft skills.
