The strategic importance of non cognitive skills in schooling as a tool against early school-leaving


Human capital represents the most important resource available to countries for equitable and sustainable social and economic growth. For this reason, all states should commit themselves to pursuing policies aimed at guaranteeing universal and permanent access to the education and training system. school represents a fundamental educational agency, appointed to mediate between collective and individual needs and has the task not only of educating, but also of promoting a harmonious personal and social development of citizens. Non-cognitive skills can contribute significantly to achieving this goal. With this in mind, the recent proposal for law no. 2372/2022 has identified these skills as essential for the recovery of the motivation to learn, the loss of which is one of the main causes of drop out.
