Certify key citizenship skills at the end of compulsory education. An empirical survey

Abstract:

The article concerns some results of an empirical investigation relating to practices and opinions of secondary school teachers on the evaluation and certification of key citizenship skills to be acquired at the end of compulsory education. To collect information, a questionnaire was administered to a sample of 383 teachers. After an initial descriptive analysis, Multiple Correspondence Analysis was used in order to identify the existence of patterns of association between the observed variables and behavior/attitude clusters. The results of the study show, especially among teachers with greater seniority, a limited awareness of the docimological tools capable of detecting transversal citizenship skills, also for the purposes of the certification to be issued at the end of compulsory schooling.
