Innovating university teaching to improve student learning: QUALITI project and Teaching Quality Indicators Framework – TQIF

Abstract

The EU documents emphasize how, for the development of effective policies and strategies for the modernization of higher education, both at the level of political accountability and at the level of individual higher education institutions (HEI), it is essential to develop a broad spectrum of data covering all aspects of performance, and how, even in well-funded systems, finding appropriate indicators to measure them has proven difficult to achieve. In particular, there is evidence of an increasing focus on the quality of research outputs by governments and institutions, rather than on measures of educational quality, although the subject of learning and teaching has always been at the heart of university activities and research funding in the international field.
