A school for social justice. Pedagogical reflections on equity in education in Gramscian perspective

Italian Constitution assigns school a key role for social justice: assuming equity as a horizon of pedagogical meaning is essential. However, old and new inequalities weigh on students’ educational paths, generating iniquity. In this context, Antonio Gramsci’s thought on school is an important reference: it should not crystallize social differences but be a vector of emancipation to ensure people’s equal cultural and political dignity.
