Building Shared Visions: The Role of Play in Early Childhood Professional Development

Abstract

Play, in its different forms, is recognized as a key component of children's growth and learning processes. In early childhood education, play is a basic foundation that helps children explore, socialize, be creative, as well as engage in care activities. These benefits, generated through the practice of play, can be leveraged in different settings and with diverse groups. Based on this belief, "The Ball of Cards: Building the 0-6 System" has been created - a game for educators and teachers to encourage reflection, learning, and a deep understanding of each other's teaching methodologies. It aims to spark conversation, enhance effective teaching practices, build shared goals, and help create concrete strategies to ensure smooth educational continuity. This article examines how play can support the professional development of educational staff working with children aged 0-6, through a case study.
