Digital Education. Cultural Heritage and Generation Z

Starting from the principles of Karl Mannheim's sociological theory of generations and from the analysis of the 11th Civita Report "Indagine su Giovani e Cultura", focused on the knowledge of values and expectations of the young generations in the digital age in order to favour their active involvement in the world of culture, improving their lives and building a more active and aware society, the paper reflects on practices, methods and digital tools for heritage education in formal, non-formal and informal contexts. The study (within a methodological key between social sciences and art history), through examples and good practices, deals with the area "Generation Z digital environments" and highlights the role of technologies in renewing approaches to heritage use at school (platforms, applications and technologies for art history teaching) and at the museum (immersive environments, virtual spaces and digital museum).
