From Training to Teaching: Self-Assessment Tools in the Primary Education Sciences Degree Programme

Abstract:

The aim of this study is to highlight the importance of involving both in-service teachers and students in the self-evaluation processes of the Primary Education course at the University of Molise. Building upon the investigation conducted in 2019, this research examined the skills acquired, as perceived by graduates who commenced teaching in Italian schools between 2019 and 2023, as well as those of students enrolled in the fifth year of the same programme for the academic year 2023/24. Employing the same methodological approach as the previous study, a new questionnaire was administered, constructed with reference to the learning objectives outlined in the SUA-CdS form. The quantitative analysis of the data revealed a general increase in the perception of competencies, particularly in the areas of mathematics, history-geography, and teaching practice, indicating the effectiveness of the improvement actions implemented following the 2019 investigation.
