The effectiveness of Middle Management Coaching at school: results of the qualitative dimension of research

Abstract:

The paper presents the effectiveness of a coaching course carried out with sixteen teachers belonging to four schools in Palermo. The coaching process was launched starting from the hypothesis that enhancing the skills of middle management in educational institutions positively affects the overall quality of organizational management and the well-being of the school community. Starting from the analysis of eight focus groups carried out before and after the implementation of the course, it was possible to detect a positive impact with respect to the four areas investigated by the focus groups: collaboration and communication, professional growth and development, leadership, and a sense of welcome and belonging to the school community.
