Values, Self-Efficacy, and Motivation in Special Education Teachers: An Empirical Analysis

Abstract

The study aims to examine the relationship between personal values and self-efficacy among special education teachers, analyzing the influence of teaching motivations (autonomous and controlled) (Schwartz, 2012; Bandura, 1977; Roth et al., 2007). The research involved a sample of 314 participants (F = 70.4%, M = 29.6%; M age = 41 years; SD = 10.56). The Portrait Values Questionnaire (Schwartz et al., 2001), the Autonomous Motivations for Teaching Scale (Roth et al., 2007), and the Teachers’ Self-Efficacy Scale (Caprara, 2001) were administered. The results of two hierarchical multiple regression analyses are discussed in relation to implications for both pre-service and in-service teacher education, with the aim of improving the implementation of inclusive education policies (Aiello & Sharma, 2021).
