The city as an exploratory landscape and learning environment

Abstract:

The city, as a complex ecosystem, allows the acquisition of skills for the exercise of citizenship. Pedagogy, a science with many dimensions (Parricchi, 2020), through pedarchitettura conveys an idea of city-educational space, through the design of urban educational paths, playful and interactive public spaces, school buildings integrated in the urban fabric, street learning and urban art. Considering the cloud of negative emotions that often characterize non-places, physical and existential, it becomes necessary to involve young people in the design of learning cities in which to inhabit the space, Intended both as a carrier of relational awareness and as a catalyst for attention. The city is thus defined as an exploratory landscape, while space, third educator, is conceived in function of the person who inhabits it. The readability, flexibility, affordance and total topicality of spaces constitute a system of architraves for physical design and the foundation of pedagogical-educational value.
