The potential of play for linguistic and socio-relational development from an inclusive perspective

Abstract

This paper aims to reflect on the essential value of play as a vehicle for the cognitive, psycho-affective, and linguistic development of infants. Preschool is one of the main educational institutions in a child's life and is called upon, daily, to make the important choice of directing and guiding the play activities of young children in an ecological, educational, and inclusive manner. The research aims to investigate the potential of play as a fundamental prerequisite for linguistic and socio-relational development. The selection of the non-probabilistic sample, based on reasoned choice, followed criteria of professional heterogeneity, involving teachers on a voluntary basis, working in the same school system but with diverse educational experience.
