The role of inclusive culture between being a Learning City and making “community”: the case of Turin

Abstract:

The Learning City recognises the need to ensure the learning and well-being of its entire population, consistent with an inclusive approach according to the principle of ‘Leaving No One Behind’. It is precisely in the area of learning and wellbeing that culture plays a fundamental role, thus characterising the modes of access to cultural heritage as a central element of a Learning City. It is in this perspective that, on the territory of Turin, we conducted a qualitative research on the accessibility of the city's cultural heritage in the Exhibition Centres, combining theoretical reflection with the experimentation of practical experiences more and more adherent to the objectives and principles of the UNESCO network of which the city is part. We will present the main results of the investigation, the transformative elements and the strategies implemented in the face of the outcomes that emerged.
